Americans with Disabilities Act and Olmstead Resources In 1999, the Supreme Court issued a decision in the case of Olmstead v. L.C. (527 U.S. 581 (1999)). In this case, the Court ruled that Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act prohibits the unnecessary institutionalization of persons with disabilities and that services to persons with disabilities must be provided "in the most integrated setting possible."
