We are one of ten regional DBTAC: ADA Centers that provide
Information, Materials, Training, and Services
to promote the use of technology for access and inclusion by all individuals,
and facilitate the widespread use of universal design.

What is information technology?

Information Technology (I T) is technology used to acquire, store, manipulate or transmit information, such as telephones and telecommunications products, video equipment, websites, message systems, computer hardware, and more.

What is accessible information technology?

Accessible information technology (Accessible I T) is designed with special built-in features and properties that make it more useable for individuals with a variety of disabilities.

Examples of accessible information technology:

  • Computer software that works with text-to-speech software
  • Web pages with resizable fonts
  • Desktop computers with front-mounted audio and USB ports
  • Printers and copiers with simple layouts and easy-to-reach controls
  • Message systems with text captioning options
